Join a Small Group In Luke 14, Jesus tells a parable of a man in need of guests for the elaborate banquet he had prepared. To get these guests, he sent his servants out into the streets and alleys of the town to bring anyone they could find to his table. He told them, “Go out to the roads and country lanes and make them come in, so that my house will be full.” What a great vision! At Church of the Cross our focus, this year, is on connecting. Not only with each other but also with those in our community. Our dream isn’t just to create room at our tables; we want to create hundreds of tables all around the community that people will be invited to. We’re committed to seeing this happen at COC. That’s why we’d like everyone at Church of the Cross to have the opportunity to connect and grow in a 6-week group. Here’s how you can help. Pray. Prayer gives you contact with God. He looks down and opens your eyes to those people who you can bring into community. Pray for your eyes to be opened and the obedience to follow His lead. Open your home. All you need is an open heart to invite people into your home. Our 6-week curriculum uses a DVD to teach and lead you through each lesson. Put on a pot of coffee and you’re all ready to go. Take a break. If you’re in an existing group, take a 6-week break from that group and consider hosting a new group. Or, you may want to pair up with someone else from your group and do it together. Commit to be in a group. Christ did not intend for us to be alone. We were made for each other! Enrich your life by committing to a 6-week study on His purposes for your life. Jesus often painted pictures of what His children’s lives should look like. He wanted their homes to be full with people from their towns. From our leadership all the way through to our membership, we can help turn Jesus’ dream into reality by making room at our tables for the people in our community. We can give of ourselves in response to the wondrous gift we have received. We will be providing opportunities for you to commit to 6 weeks of community at worship services throughout the month of March or by calling the church office.
