    We pray for ourselves, that we would reflect Christ to our guests and to those most in need of care.

    When I pray, You answer me, and encourage me by giving me the strength I need.

The Power of Prayer

Prayer is a powerful tool for healing and supporting those in need. At Church of the Cross there are many ways that prayers are offered. In morning worship, persons are listed in the bulletin. These listings stay in for two weeks unless there is a special request for a longer period of time. After the two weeks, prayers are still going out even though they are not listed in the bulletin. The TLC or Tender Loving Care group that meets on Thursday mornings has an extensive list of those who are in need of prayer. Hospital, homebound, cancer patients and general prayer lists are kept up to date. If you have e-mail you can participate in the e-mail prayer chain that lists those who are in need of prayers. With a word to Dorothy Harris you will get a person on the prayer chain that goes around by telephones. People are also lifted up in prayer in Disciple Bible studies and committee meetings.

As you see, the prayer life of the church is active. The power of prayer is felt. Remember to pray for those who have needs in our world. They need the presence of the Spirit in their lives. Remember to converse with God about your own needs as you minister. Share the power of prayer. Ignite the flames of hope.

If you have a concern for which you would like prayer, please complete the prayer card in the pew and place it in the offering plate or return it to the church office.

A Listener's Prayer

God, grant me to be silent before you, that I may hear you;
at rest in you - that you may work in me;
open to you - that you may enter;
empty before you - that you may fill me.
Let me be still, and know you are my God.
Amen

-Paul Reeves
