From the Past…. To the Future…
Many hands built the church to be what it is today and many hands continue to build the church so that it will be strong tomorrow. We are indebted to our past. Yet, we have the promise of the future and what it holds for God’s people. The ministries of today would not be if it were not for the thoughtfulness of those from the past.
Church of the Cross United Methodist's Endowment Fund will help ensure our ministries continue. The gifts to this fund will serve to keep the mission of the church alive and growing. Which in turn will allow the church to dream a greater tomorrow and continue a legacy for generations to come so that they may know Christ.
The Permanent Endowment Fund of the Church of the Cross United Methodist (COC) is established to provide members and other interested parties the opportunity to make enduring charitable gifts to COC. These gifts become a living memorial and a perpetual source of financial support to benefit our church. The fund is the vehicle for receiving and managing gifts that look to the future and enhance the ability of our church to promote its ministries and care for its property.
Use of the Fund
As a Permanent Endowment Fund, only the earnings from the fund may be distributed; the principal remains in the fund untouched. The Administrative Board of COC approves the use of the funds to support the programs and needs of COC, with the intent to provide funds for those needs not normally within the scope of the church’s annual operating budget.
Investment of Endowment Funds
Gifts to the Permanent Endowment Fund of COC will be invested in order to preserve the principal of the fund and to generate income at a reasonable rate. All gifts to COC’s Endowment Fund are a permanent commitment to the future of the church. At the present time, investments are made through and managed by the Greater Salina Community Foundation.
Gifts to the Fund
All gifts of any amount are gratefully received and will be placed in a General Endowment Fund for use authorized by the Administrative Board of COC. For certain qualifying gifts, the donor may place restrictions regarding the use of its earnings. A special fund will be created for these gifts to honor the donor’s intended use. Donations may be made to the fund through Living Gifts, Bequests in a Will or Trust, Memorials, or Life Insurance. Gifts may be in the form of cash, securities, or property. Non-cash gifts will be subject to approval of the Endowment Committee.
Giving is a central part of Christian living and reflects the love of Christ. If you have questions about the Endowment Fund of if you are ready to take the next step of making a contribution, please contact the church office.
